Post-Trial (A Dedication to an Innocent Man)

Sitting there you reflect in your mind,
The way you felt when the Judge, adjudged your crime
“Guilty” he shouts then “Confine”
Your heart skips a beat with fear
And the initial drop of tear draws near.

Your full sentence is read,
The bailiff instructs “hands on your head.”
Then comes metal cuffs to your wrist.
Hands placed behind your back so tight as if
You arms wee to fall off with just half a twist.

In your heart and mind you’re in pain
Because an innocent man is now bound by chains,
Certain people will never look or think of you the same
And just like that your whole career and reputation is down the drain.

But, Remember God is good and God is great
For a man like you should keep the faith.
At the end of your sentenced date
Loving, caring, people will await you at your release gate.
