My Great Battle for Love

My Great Battle for Love

It was like a great game of chess.
His army against mine, Rows and rows of
Men ready to defend their king.
We were to fight in the name of love.

Standing ready to attack I could still hear her cries.
I recollect through vision, the sight or her being carried away.
I was helpless, defeated on my own plain, but only due to Treason.

Leading the charge I shout “In honor of love!”
I fought till their last was at my blade’s mercy.
Their king himself!

The only thought on my mind was my love.
My one true love, “Free at last!”
I proclaimed in victory as she approached.
